Washington (Reuters) - A US congressional committee is demanding documents from the health minister and the head of the CDC disease agency alleging political interference with measures against the corona virus.

Minister Alex Azar and CDC chief Robert Redfield had until 30 December Time, a special committee of the House to hand over the relevant documents, explained here , the Chairman Jim Clyburn on Monday. The investigations so far have shown that "the efforts to interfere with the scientific work at the CDC were far more extensive and dangerous than previously known," wrote the Democrat. The Ministry or the CDC did not initially provide a statement.

The committee's request is under threat of punishment after Clyburn claims the records were not complied with in September. According to his account, employees appointed by President Donald Trump attempted to amend or completely block scientific reports in 13 cases over a period of four months. 'Senior officials from the ministry and the CDC not only tolerated these efforts, but in some cases supported them,' it said. In addition, employees of the CDC were put under pressure. Trump has repeatedly taken a different position than the experts in the fight against the virus.
